Abigail’s 1st Birthday Party

Abigail turned 1 year old on January 18th and I am finally getting around to posting about it on the blog….well I’ve been a little busy.

Here is her 1st year photo.  She is wearing the same dress as Lily did when she was 1.

Abigail LOVES Dora so we had a Dora theme birthday party and I tried really really hard not to go over the top but we all know that is hard for me to do.

The one really cool thing that I did was get a bounce house for the kids.  This wasn’t necessarily for Abigail because she just kept falling down inside of it but it was for the older cousins.  You see, we are a total of 8 grand kids and when they all get together it pretty much turns into chaos and they run around like a bunch of crazy chickens.  We are lucky enough to have an awesome neighbor who has a large family and they have a bounce house and let us borrow theirs.

The party was a lot of fun, we invited the whole family, had it at home, ordered some pizza and drank beers and watch the football playoff’s.

Here are some photos from her birthday party.

Abigial Is Walking

December 11, 2011 we had the entire family over for a party and she decided that this would be the perfect time to take her first steps.  This picture was taken right after she took a step.  Everyone was cheering her on.  Since then she has take at least 5-8 steps in a row and then decides  to crawl.

Here is a video of her walking a few hours after this photo was taken.

Fast forward to today (December 22, 2010) and she now crawls onto anything she can.  I was doing laundry and Lily yells “Mom, get in here quick!” I rush into the play room and find this.

Which quickly turned into this

Holy cow!  We really have a fearless little adventurer on our hands.

Fog Willow Field Trip

Lily went on her first Kindergarten field trip this week and they went to Fog Willow pumpkin farm.  It was a blast, all the kids had fun petting the animals and picking out a pumpkin.

It’s A New Chapter

Finally, the day we have all been waiting for has arrived.  It’s Lily’s 1st day of Kindergarten.  We have been looking forward to this day because it starts a whole new chapter in all of our lives.  This day starts Lily on her path to school and our families path to connecting with new people and reconnecting with old friends.  We are looking forward to being part of a community where everyone is ‘on the same page’.

Lily said that she had fun on her first day and can’t wait to go on her first field trip to the Pumpkin Patch.

There’s A New Cousin In Town

Karina Lee Veverka was born to Michel (Lou’s sister) & Stuart Veverka on July 16 at 9:43pm. She weighed in at 8 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.  Abigail and Karina are almost 6 months apart, they are going to have so much fun together and when Daria has her baby in October there is going to be  another girl cousin.  Guess pink is in for 2010.

Lily or Abby?

Who is this baby? Lily, Abby or is it me?

Everyone keeps telling me how much Lily and Abby look alike, but honsetly I didn’t see it until I went back and cracked open my photo albums (yes I have those even though I am a digtial chick) and I started to look at the pictures of Lily as a baby.  Holy cow, they were right, Lily as a baby looks pretty much like Abby, they are almost twins.

So, I thought it would be good for a laugh to post a picture of Lily and one of Abby around the same age to see if you can tell which is which.

Ok, so you are a super sleuth as you can probably tell them apart given one of them has a lack of hair!!  But it is still fun to see how similar they look.

Who is this baby?

It’s Baby Dawn…holy 70′s !  The 1st picture is also of me.  I don’t have any other baby pictures of Louis or I would gladly post them.  Heehehe

Here are pictures of me and Louis when we were little kids.

First Feeding

Abigail had her 4 month check up and did very well, she weighs only slightly more than Lily did at this age, 14 pounds. Her doctor gave us the green light to start to introduce foods such as rice cereal and pureed foods. Right after we left the doctors office we zoomed over to walgreens and picked up some food for Abigail. When we sit down for a meal we put Abigail in her high chair and she just stares at us and makes a chewing motion with her mouth. So now Lily and I were super excited to be able to feed Abigail food.

Abigail's First Feeding of Banana's

We started with bananas and after a while she liked them. But then the next day she had a bad reaction to her vaccinations so we stuck with formula. When she was feeling better we gave her some rice cereal, just 2 oz but she loved it. I think however she may have been confused because it tasted like formula and I was feeding it to her with a spoon. I think she wanted it in the bottle, not from the spoon.

After a bib change Lily even helped out and feed her a few scoops of bananas.

Lily feeding Abigail bananas

Even though I have been through all this baby stuff before, my memory is terrible and I couldn’t recall how much to feed her. Luckily, Gerber has a great website with a lot of info for forgetful mommies like me.

Here is a link to their Nutrition Guide for Supported Sitters, but they have others as well on their site. I especially like the menu planner available to help you keep your babies nutritional needs on track.  With a few clicks you can customize a menu for your baby.  You can even print it out and tack it on your fridge AND you can print out a shopping list, how type “A” is that.

Here are a few pictures from the Lily Collection.

We finally got picture of the girls done. This will be good practice for our family photo shoot in September

The Little Gym

Lily swinging on the bars at The Little Gym

Lily and I started classes at The Little Gym right before her 2nd Birthday in 2007 and we had a great time because it was a “Mommy & Me” type of deal and we had fun together.  Later she wanted to try a cheer-leading class and that didn’t go very well because it was a class she had to do on her own.  I honestly don’t recall what happened after that but we didn’t enroll for the next session and we just stopped going for a few years.

Then a few weeks ago Lily found her red award ribbon from The Little Gym and ran over to me and shouted “I want to go back to The Little Gym”.  I was in shock, really? We haven’t been there in almost 2 years.  I guess those red reward ribbons are great marketing tools on their part. =)

We went back to our local The Little Gym in Folsom, CA and she tried out a class, this time she was old enough to do a class on her own and quite frankly I didn’t think she would go through with it.

Well, I wrong because she did great.  Abby and I sat outside the room with all of the other parents and watched.  Lily amazed me because she took so many risks that day and succeeded.

Lily swinging on the rings at The Little Gym

I don’t only mean the type of risks such as the balance beam but she wasn’t familiar with any of the kids, teachers or activities and she just jumped right in there and participated.  I would have expected her to come out to the waiting room some time during the class and ask to go home, but she didn’t.  I could see the joy on her face after she accomplished a task on a piece of gym equipment.   She completed the entire class and at the end came running over to me and said “I really liked it and I want to sign up”.  The day we went back to The Little Gym was fantastic because I could see her confidence in herself soar.

I recall when we first went to The Little Gym in 2007 and seeing all the Thank You cards on the walls from parents about how their child’s confidence had risen or how their child was doing better in school or at home because of The Little Gym.  I clearly remember thinking, “ah poohy, that is silly, gymnastics can’t make that much of a difference”  Guess I was wrong and now I am one of those parents thanking The Little Gym for helping my daughter’s confidence too.  Not only do the programs at The Little Gym make a difference but it is the owners and the teachers too.  The owners of The Little Gym Folsom are fantastic and they really do care about the kids and their families.  When we went back to The Little Gym it had been almost 2 years, but the owner Cindy still remembered Lily.

Lily really looks forward to her time at The Little Gym and she can’t wait for their Summer Camp as well.  Her birthday is in September and she has already made plans to have it there.  We will also be signing Abby up for her first class during their Summer session, I can’t wait for her to have a great time there too.

The Home Depot Kids Workshop

Are you looking for something F.R.E.E. to do with your kids on a Saturday?  If so, you might want to head on over to your local Home Depot and check out the Kids Workshops.

Louis and Lily happened to be at The Home Depot a few weeks ago and found out that they have F.R.E.E. Kids workshops on the first Saturday of every month from 9-Noon.  You don’t have to stay for the entire 3 hours, you can just come and work on the project between those hours.

Your kid will get an Apron and a special pin to put on it for each project that they complete and a certificate.  The projects come in a kit that you put together and they provide the decorative elements such as stickers, paint and markers.

Lily had a great time working with Louis to put together the house, she even “bammed” in some of the nails.  Of course her favorite part was the decorating.  Lily thought that the whole thing was pretty darn cool and is looking forward to the next one in May.

Kindergarten Bound

Lily had her Kindergarten assessment with St. Mary School in Sacramento and did great.  As we left the appointment she said “That was fun”.  A few days later we received the good news that she was accepted.  We were a little worried that she may not get in because this is one of the best catholic schools in Sacramento and we are not exactly fully participating in all things Catholic at the moment, but we will be from now on.  I know that by having Lily at this school it will really help our family.  We are excited to be part of a community of people with the same values as we do.

She will actually start this summer in their Kinder Camp program.  For Lily this will be a way for her to get used to the Kindergarten surroundings and make some new friends before the school year starts.

Super Bowl Family

We celebrated Super Bowl Sunday by putting on our Raider gear and making some yummy snack foods.  We really like Franks Red Hot sauce so Louis made his “Hot Nuggets”.  It is simple to make, just dice up some chicken and bread it then fry it up in a pan.  In another pan melt butter and add Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and mix well.  When the chicken is done place it in a serving bowl and pour the sauce over the chicken and turn to coat.  Serve with blue cheese dressing or buttermilk dressing.

Our first family portrait

Sisters Art

Before Abigail was born Lily drew many pictures with baby Abigail in them, as well as drawings with our whole family.  She even wrote “Abby” many times on her drawings, it was almost like she was obsessed with her.  Once I got home from the hospital with Abigail I noticed something different about Lily, she had changed.  The change wasn’t necessarily bad, it was just that she was acting different.  She was almost over acting her enthusiasm for Abigail and acting somewhat ‘spazy’.  Her normal actions were louder and bigger and just plain ol’ goofy.  She also didn’t create any artwork with Abigail in it.

I think she was almost uncomfortable having Abigail around.  We had to help Lily understand how to interact with a baby by teaching her things such as using your ‘indoor voice’ and using a gentle touch when playing with her.  Perhaps all these new instructions made her feel a bit out of place in her own home and I can see why many children become jealous of the new baby in the house.  Louis has taken some time off of work so that he can spend time with Lily and Abigail and we have made it a point to do special things with Lily as well.  We also make sure that she is involved and helps us with the baby by getting a diaper, picking out her clothes or helping to feed her.  Lily’s new behavior has tapered off and she is settling back into her own skin.  I know that she is feeling better about having Abigail around because when she came home from Preschool on Wednesday she gave me a new piece of artwork.

Life With Abigail

It has been a week since Abigail joined our happy little family and life has been good.  She is a great eater, sleeper and Lily loves to help out by getting a diaper or picking out her clothes.  We actually went out to dinner at Jacks Urban Eats for a celebratory Steak Salad and some Urban Fries and she did great.  We look forward to having many fun adventures with her and will share them on our Blog.

This is a photo of Lily and Abigail, the first time Lily got to hold her.

Baby Abigail’s New Due Date

We had our 40 week appointment today and looks like we will have to wait until next week for her to be born.  My doctor said that my body is ‘closed up tight’ and I am not a candidate for induction and the due date could just be wrong.  He said that he will not let me go beyond 41 1/2 weeks which is next weekend, which gives us a new due date of around January 23rd.

So we wait….and have sex because he said that could help soft the cervix and start labor sooner.  Also, I was hoping that he would at least strip my membranes today however, I learned that because I am Group B positive it could become a problem and cause an infection.  I am having Braxton Hicks contractions so hopefully these will turn into more productive contractions this week.

Happy New Years

We spent New Years at Daria’s house and Lily really wanted to wear something with sparkles and a poofy skirt.  She had fun hanging out with cousin Kenny and Wyatt.

Lou’s brought over Guitar Hero and Rock Band AC/DC so we could rock out.

I was hoping to find some photos from the infamous New Years Eve 1999 party, but not very many of them were ‘post-able’ in the family blog..LOL. This was the only one I could find and I have NO idea what we were doing here, but it looks like we are having a good time.  This was about 11 months before we were married.

We had a great time at Christmas spending the Eve with my family and the day with Lou’s family.

The highlight from Christmas Eve was visiting with BizNona as she now lives in a care home but my mom was able to ‘check her out’ for a few hours and bring her home.

Gingerbread House, NOT!

Last year I reluctantly made a gingerbread house with Lily and it came out ok, but it was a very frustrating process and partly because I didn’t totally read through ALL of the directions.  This year Lily would NOT stop asking about making another one so I finally gave in and picked one up at Michael’s Craft store and this year Louis was going to help with this madness.
I made sure that Louis read through the directions so that I wouldn’t screw it up this year.  He even made the icing, but that actually turned out to be a hard task and we should have just stopped there.  Louis started to assemble the house and when he was putting on the roof the whole thing just fell apart and we said ‘ forget it ‘ and we each took pieces of the house and decorated them and at them.  I think Lily liked this better than having to wait for the whole house to be finished.
So, next year when I say “no, let’s not get a gingerbread house” I think that there will be no arguing and we will just decorate Gingerbread Men cookies instead.

Abigail’s Nursery & Shower

We have finished with Abigails room, now we just need her in it!  A few more weeks and she will be popping out!  We used some of Lily’s nursery items such as her crib, dresser and some of her decorations.  We kept the Bunny theme that we used in Lily’s nursery as well.

Happy Holidays From The Cullo’s

Happy Holidays !! We are glad you found us.  We are currently working on a new and improved Cullo Family Blog, so until it is finished you can read all about our family on Dawn’s personal blog site.

Abby
We are currently working on getting ready for the newest Cullo to join the family and she is due to arrive mid January, we have decided to call her Abigail Grace.

Lily is very excited to become a big sister and really jazzed to be able to teach her fun things like how to play with all her toys, the kitties and baby signs.  We are so blessed to be able to grow our family and can’t wait until she arrives.

You can read more about Baby Abigail Cullo 2010 updates on her blog.

Lily School

Lily turned 4 in September and is in Preschool, she just loves it.   Each day that she comes home she is full of all kinds of stories about what she did at school and you can tell that she really enjoys it.

When she is at home she loves to play with her kitties Sassy and Roxy as well as read books with Mommy and Daddy and she loves to draw.

It seems that her new favorite thing is to play with my Flip video camera and take all sorts of Videos.  You can see her videos by visiting our video page on this site or on our YouTube Channel.

Louis is still working for Delta Dental in Rancho Cordova as a workforce analyst and still enjoys helping Lily with her math questions, teaching her card games and playing guitar with her.

He is also busy around the house getting things ready for Abigail’s arrival by putting furniture together and rearranging things around the house.

St. Mary’s School Here We Come

KWe took the school tour for St. Mary’s School and will be submitting our application for Lily in a few weeks.  We were really impressed with all that the school has to offer.  They have a separate building with rooms for Music, a Science lab (which rivaled the one I had in high school), Chapel, Art, Computer Lab and a Library.  When I went there we sat in one classroom for an entire day, and the Library was in a mobile classroom. They also have a tutoring program, which would have come in handy during my 8th grade math experience.  But the tutor isn’t just for kids who need help with a subject, they are there to help kids who excel in their subjects and need more challenging assignments.

On this day we did not get to see the Kindergartners as they were out on a field trip to the pumpkin patch, which was a little disappointing but at least we got to see their classroom.  I didn’t really like the classroom too much because it seemed small and cluttered but they are moving the classroom next year to the 8th grade classroom which is a lot bigger so that problem is solved.

We were told that they will only be admitting 40 children into Kindergarten next year and 10 of the spots are already spoken for due to siblings already enrolled at the school and they get first priority.   The priority scale after that gets a little tricky and we wind up some where in the middle, probably with the majority of the applicants.  There were about 25 families there for tour, so who knows!  Of course if you are a participating member of the school parish you have a better chance of getting in so guess what I am doing this weekend?  That’s right, headed back to Church with my offertory envelope in hand and I have contacted someone at the church to volunteer my time.

They also do a placement test for the kids in March and I know that Lily will do well on the test, it is just the getting her to do it alone.  She can be a little shy and I don’t want her to freak out that she has to go into the classroom without us and talk to the teacher.  So we are also going to attend as many functions as we can to get her used to the environment at the school.  The next event we will be attending is the Fine Art and Craft Show on November 14th.

25 Week Ultrasound

I had to go back for a follow-up ultra sound a few days ago because at the 20 week ultrasound they were unable to get good image of her heart.  This time, there was no problem as they were able to get the images right away.  The tech was able to spend some extra time with me and sent me home with some great shots.

Thunderbirds, Birthday Party, Nascar & Football

Wow, what a weekend I just had. The California Capital Airshow was in town and the Thunderbirds put on quite a show.  We live very near the Mather Airport so it is easy for us to drive down the street to check out the planes.  We are also able to view the practice sessions that they have on Thursday & Friday prior to the airshow. Here is my favorite picture from the Thunderbirds practice which took place on September 11, 2009.  You can see more on my Flickr Account

TB0911_4

Then on Saturday we went to the airshow and spent about 2 hours there and then headed back to our secret viewing spot to view the Thunderbirds show later in the afternoon. LilyThunderbirds That night there was a Nascar Night race, which is my favorite kind of racing.  Then on Sunday Lily we had Lily’s family birthday party (4th Birthday) along with opening weekend for Football AND DirecTV had their NFL Season Ticket for free that day so the whole family (ok, just the guys) were playing with that. All of my favoriate things were rolled up into one weekend – Thunderbirds, Nascar, Family and Football.  I am still tired from it all.

We are having a girl baby.

IMG_0003

The picture is a little fuzzy but the ultrasound tech showed me more images on the screen and clearly pointed out the female parts!  Now I don’t have to go and sell all my clothes at Once Upon a Child and we can finally talk about names and we can start decorating.  Can you tell I am excited?

Lily was with us during the Ultrasound and afterwards she called Nona and her Aunties to tell them the news.  She was rather excited as well, until the new baby starts playing with her My Little Ponies and Barbies!

Gender Verification Is Just Around The Corner

I am getting nervous, mainly because I am just a big ol’ control freak and what happens during pregnancy is one of these things that you can’t control.  Even worse, you can’t control the gender of your child.  Having to wait 5 months to find out the gender of our  baby is making me a little nuts.  I could go and have an ultrasound done at one of those fancy 3D places and pay a few bucks to find out before my scheduled appointment on Tuesday but it just isn’t in the budget at the moment.  We will stick with the one that will be paid by the insurance.  On Tuesday (August 25th) at 9:00 am we will be finding out the gender of the baby.

This means that I will either be selling a ton of girl clothes at Once Upon A Child or unpacking it all in the baby’s room and we can start playing the name game. We have a few names picked out for each gender but Lou doesn’t really want to talk about the names until we can only talk about 1/2 of them.  Honestly, it doesn’t matter if we have a boy or another girl but deep down inside I really think it is a girl.

crochet hookers

My mom is poised and ready with her crochet hooks and waiting to find out which colors she can use to make the baby a blanket. Lord knows she made us enough when Lily was born, but she feels the new baby needs their own blankets too.

So I’ve been a little cranky, a little anxious and I have a feeling that this weekend is going to drag on.  I guess I will just have to keep my self busy so that the time flies by and Tuesday gets here really soon.

I’ve also been falling into the Pregnancy Brain syndrome.  I recall that the first time I was pregnant I had really bad Pregnancy Brain and had the worst memory.  Normally I have a great memory and can remember lots of annoying and trivial things like Disney Trivia and my job! But now, I am forgetting so many things and it make me so mad because I honestly feel stupid.  Even Lily has noticed, recently she told me “Mom, you are forgetting stuff….a lot”.  Ahh, 3 year olds, tell it like it is.  I forgot if she wanted Milk or Juice and seriously just stood there in the kitchen, thinking really hard but it just never came to me.  Oh well, hopefully once I pop out this new Cullo my memory will come back….maybe.

Baby Cullo is Coming in 2010

Warning…it’s a long post.  =)

We have been blessed with becoming pregnant again, this will be our second child.  For a very long time I thought that Lily was going to be an only child like me.  There certainly are some perks to being the only kid in the house, but I think that there are more pitfalls.  I never had that ‘constant playmate’ around to bug or hang out with.  As a child I ended up playing alone in my room many afternoons wishing for a baby brother or sister.

Now, as an adult I have always wanted a large family but we had problems getting pregnant the first time as it took 4 years to get pregnant with Lily.  The culprit I suspect was my then undiscovered Graves disease which causes my Hyperthyroidism which causes infertility.  About a year after the birth of Lily my condition was discovered and I am now being treated with a daily medication.  Even though I wanted a large family it was becoming a distant reality as I started to waiver on if I wanted more than Lily.  You see, Lily was quite a handful as a baby,  as a toddler and now as a preschooler we have learned how to deal with all of her little issues.  She is what some would call a High Spirited child.  She just needs ‘more’ from us in certain situations where most kids would be able to deal.   Lily put quite a strain on our marriage, while it was never in jeopardy it sure did test it many times.  I recall many times saying to Louis, “This is it, no more kids” when dealing with Lily issues.

Being a parent is not easy, it is not all tied up in a pretty little box with a bow on top.  Do you remember how ‘blissful’ you thought this was all going to be?  How you thought you could still ‘do it all’ and keep your nice life the same and have a baby?  Then you took your baby home and that first week was like an asteroid had crashed into your life and turned it all upside down.  Parenting is messy, complicated, challenging, and will make you do things you never thought you would ever do or say.  It adds a whole new dynamic to you as a person.  If you need to drink a glass of wine, beer, mixed cocktail or even be medicated by a doctor just to cope then there is nothing wrong with that.

This all brings me back to my original reason for making this post today, we are pregnant again and will be expecting our new baby in January 2010.  The due date keeps changing and I’ve heard Jan 4th, Jan 14th and Jan 23rd, it all just depends upon when I have an ultrasound done and how the baby measures on that day.

Lily really wants a baby sister, but has recently said that she would be ‘ok’ if it was a boy.  I think she said that when she realized that boys don’t play with baby dolls and My Little Pony so she wouldn’t need to share those with the new baby.  I really want a girl, mainly because we have a lot of girl crap already and this means we don’t need to buy a darn thing or get any boy hand me downs.  I’d rather just unpack all of Lily’s baby clothes instead of inherit more crap.  Louis said that he wants a girl as well, I think he likes being the king of the castle.   But of course when it all comes down to it, we just want a healthy baby no mater if it is a boy or a girl.

Here are the most recent photos of the baby, taken today.  In these ultrasounds the technician said the baby measured about 12 – 13 weeks.  We were very surprised because we thought that I was only 11 weeks and so we expected to see only a semi-human looking baby.  We got a surprise when the technician put that wand to my tummy and saw a mostly fully developed human looking kid in there.  The baby was dancing around and waving his/her arms, it was awesome.

The JumpStart Sofware

Ok, I will say it now but you will think I am just bragging but Lily is a computer wiz….but I am sure your kids are too.  I think that it is the coolest thing to see little kids using the computer and knowing what they are doing.  Some adults can’t even figure out how to double click on icon for gods sake.  It just goes to show that out little kids brains are ready to learn anything at this age.

Lily gets on the internet, clicks the icon in the link bar for Playhouse Disney or Noggin and has a ball.  She plays games, she watches videos and I know that she really enjoys it.  Another thing that she likes to do is play her with her JumpStart CD’s.  We purchased theses a few months ago because they have this software at her preschool.  We got a different game than what she uses at preschool but she was complaining that she didn’t get a lot of computer time at school…well not to worry because you should be playing with dirt and your friends at preschool my dear, we can save the computer time for home.  We got her the JumpStart Preschool Bundle pack that had 4 CD’s in it at Target.

A super cool thing that I just found out about is that JumpStart is going to be releasing a game for the Wii called Pet Rescue. I have not yet told this to Lily but when I do I am pretty sure she will pee her pants and be rather happy.  You see, her favorite Leapster game is Pet Pals and she like the JumpStart CD’s and really likes to play on the Wii.  If you want updates about this game check out the JumpStart blog at http://blog.jumpstart.com/

Free Comic Book Day

carsToday we headed out in the rain, sometimes that is the best time to get things done because lots of people stay indoors.  Well, in our world when Lily is in a bad mood it just isn’t safe to go anywhere.  Oh well, we went anyway and headed out to score a free comic book.  Today was Free Comic Book Day at comic book shops around the USA.  We are not really into comic books but hey, free is free!  Louis was interested in a William Shatner and Star Wars comic book and we got a Cars one for Lily.

Next year, you can check out your local shop to see if they are participating.

Mother’s Day is Everyday

I know that it is a wee bit early for Mother’s Day stuff, but this was on my mind and thus I blog.

My entire life I have always been a little busy bee. I can hardly watch a TV show (except Lost) without having to thumb through a magazine! Seriously, I think I might have an attention disorder. That is why it is in my nature to have several things in my life to juggle.

Right now in my professional life am working on so many things and pulling in so many different directions that I just might explode but I do love it. I just recently launched my own Virtual Assisting company focused on Internet Marketing such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube and I am learning a lot along the way. I have learned from other more seasoned Virtual Assistants, Business Coaches and Spiritual Coaches. I have invested my time and money in growing my business. I have also launched this Blog site and I am working on branding myself as a Mommy Blogger. I really admire the Walmart Elevenmoms project and wish to somehow be a part of that team of women. For now, that ship has sailed and they are not accepting anyone else in their program so I will just continue on this path and grow my brand and hope that one day I can join them.

However, if I could just push all of the workstuff aside I just want to be Lily’s mom and spend everyday enjoying her world.  I wish I could be one of those moms who does nothing but be a mom and of course have a housekeeper!  Does that mom exist, I am not sure but I suppose that is what Mother’s day is for. I don’t expect a fancy present on Mother’s Day, just some time with Lily without other life distractions. I think that this year I will see if we can go to the Spa together, yes she is only 3 1/2 but maybe I can find a place where they do fun things for girls too.

I am an avid photographer as well and I have a zillion pictures of Lily and I often look back though some of them and just cry, I am not going to lie it was tough being a new mommy.  It is nothing like you think it is going to be, you basically give up your self and take the backseat on everything.  You are tired, you are hungry and all you want to do is run away and go shopping just to get a break.  I am lucky in that Louis has been the most wonderful husband and would let me escape for an hour to the local super Walmart just so I could go walk around in peace, yes peaceful at Walmart.

dscn1651This is a picture of me and Lily and she is about 6 months old.  When I look back at her photos the hard times are still memories but as time goes by those memories of sleepless nights, short naps and breast feeding issues fade away and all I have left are the photographs of the good times.  It is no secret that we have been trying to get pregnant again but we have not been successful, that includes the miscarriage this past December.  I have actually been on the ‘fence’ about having another baby but when I look at all the wonderful photographs of Lily over the past years my heart just soars and I want another baby. I know that Lily is going to be a great big sister too because she is great with her new baby cousin Wyatt.  She holds his hand and rubs his head when he is drifting off to sleep.  She keeps asking me and Louis when we are going to get another baby and she put in her request for a girl baby, we will see what we can do!
