Gestational Diabetes

I had to take the 1 hour glucose screen to see if I might have Gestational Diabetes and failed!  I was in shock because when I was pregnant with Lily I passed it with flying colors.  So I called to make the 3 hour test appointment and had to wait a few weeks for an opening.  When the time came for my appointment I did the appropriate fasting (12 hours) and geared up with my laptop, two movies, a few books and made sure my phone was fully charged.  When I got there she took my blood for a fasting reading, then had me drink a horrible tasting drink that was like really bad punch a a 3 year olds birthday party.  I had to wait 1 hour and she took my blood again, wait another other and take my blood and then another hour.  I finished the test at 11:05 and promptly bolted across the street for a well deserved diet coke and spicy thai chicken soup in a bread bowl from LaBou, it was raining and so soup sounded great.

The next day I was so anxious for my results so I called my doctor and was so releived to find out that I did great and had nothing to worry about, at first I thougth did she read me the wrong results?  =)

So, now I can move past this and go back to concentrating on Abigail’s nursery decorating.
