Holiday Cards

Can you believe that it is almost time to start thinking about Christmas?  Ok, so some crazy people have already started their Christmas shopping too, like my MOTHER! Crazy.  It seems like every year I scramble at the last minute to get our Holiday cards out and mine end up looking like everyone’s card because they also waited until the last minute and went to Walgreens or CVS.

This year is going to be different because I am going to use an online card creation service called Purple Trail where you can create personalized holiday cards and hyperlink those keywords to.  They have so many designs and card options to choose from so my cards will look different than everyone’s card this year.   With each of the designs you can use it as is or you can kick it up a notch and use their ‘personalization’ mode move the photos, add other photos, change the text and the colors of the card.  They even have a blank design option and you can create a card from scratch.

I am participating in a contest for Purple Trail and I am supposed to tell you the 5 ways that I make our holiday cards unique, but quite frankly I don’t do anything special.  I just have a few rules that we have come up with over the years so I am going to pass those along to you.

  1. Don’t go to the ‘one hour photo’ type of joints so your card doesn’t look like everyone’s card. They don’t allow you to change where the image is on the card and they limit the amount of text you can input.
  2. Try and take a photo somewhere else instead of your living room, everyone has seen your living room and they don’t care to see it again.
  3. Don’t take your photo in front of your Christmas Tree, it is cliche and becomes ‘seasonal and dated’. Instead use a background that is nice enough to have displayed all year around such as outdoors at a park or just in your backyard.
  4. Don’t dress up your pet in a Santa hat, need I say more?
  5. Don’t have your family wear matching sweaters or all in the same color, that is soooo 1992 and not even necessary in this millennium.  Let your families unique style show, even if your 3 year old is sporting stripes and polka dots together he/she will look cute anyway.

I am participating in a giveaway for PurpleTrail.com and it makes you eligible for a PurpleTrail gift code. Here is more information about the contest http://www.purpletrail.com/blogcontests

Easter Madness

Abbity Rabbity

Ok, well it wasn’t really madness but I thought that it was going to be.  Now having two young kids makes everything take longer and just seem like more of a pain in the booty.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my girls but holy cow now we have even more crap to lug around, especially on a Holiday visit to the in-laws.

However, this Easter I was pleasantly surprised, it went very smooth….omg did I say that?  I could not believe how awesome my Easter was.

Lily was so well behaved and I was so proud of her as she didn’t gather ALL of the Easter eggs during the hunt at Grandma’s, she left some for her younger cousins.  Abby was the best baby EVER!  She cried when she wanted to be fed, took naps when she was tired and even did some socializing.  I just couldn’t believe how un-stressed I was….it was a very nice feeling.

However, the days before Easter were a bit stressful for me.  You see, I am a very organized gal…ok I used to be before I had the girls.  Normally, I would have had all of my Easter stuff done at least the weekend if not a few days before.  This time, I didn’t start until Friday and I was still putting things together on Saturday night, which drove me a bit batty.  The whole time I was putting Lily’s Easter basket together I was so sure she was going to come bounding down the stair and ruin the surprise, but she didn’t and I stressed for no reason.  She slept through the night, unlike me though.  I was up every two hours with Abby and then up at 6:30 when Lily woke up to see what the Easter Bunny brought.  *sigh*  So we started our day pretty early and I had a headache the entire day, but it was still a good day.

Happy New Years

We spent New Years at Daria’s house and Lily really wanted to wear something with sparkles and a poofy skirt.  She had fun hanging out with cousin Kenny and Wyatt.

Lou’s brought over Guitar Hero and Rock Band AC/DC so we could rock out.

I was hoping to find some photos from the infamous New Years Eve 1999 party, but not very many of them were ‘post-able’ in the family blog..LOL. This was the only one I could find and I have NO idea what we were doing here, but it looks like we are having a good time.  This was about 11 months before we were married.

Cullo Christmas

We had a great time at Christmas spending the Eve with my family and the day with Lou’s family.

The highlight from Christmas Eve was visiting with BizNona as she now lives in a care home but my mom was able to ‘check her out’ for a few hours and bring her home.

The highlight from Christmas Morning is always watching Lily open her gifts.

The highlight from Christmas Day was watching Baby Wyatt’s reaction to getting Chicken Dance Elmo and seeing him take a few steps…Wyatt, not Elmo.

Abby
We are currently working on getting ready for the newest Cullo to join the family and she is due to arrive mid January, we have decided to call her Abigail Grace.

Lily is very excited to become a big sister and really jazzed to be able to teach her fun things like how to play with all her toys, the kitties and baby signs.  We are so blessed to be able to grow our family and can’t wait until she arrives.

You can read more about Baby Abigail Cullo 2010 updates on her blog.

Lily School

Lily turned 4 in September and is in Preschool, she just loves it.   Each day that she comes home she is full of all kinds of stories about what she did at school and you can tell that she really enjoys it.

When she is at home she loves to play with her kitties Sassy and Roxy as well as read books with Mommy and Daddy and she loves to draw.

It seems that her new favorite thing is to play with my Flip video camera and take all sorts of Videos.  You can see her videos by visiting our video page on this site or on our YouTube Channel.

Louis is still working for Delta Dental in Rancho Cordova as a workforce analyst and still enjoys helping Lily with her math questions, teaching her card games and playing guitar with her.

He is also busy around the house getting things ready for Abigail’s arrival by putting furniture together and rearranging things around the house.

Mother’s Day is Everyday

I know that it is a wee bit early for Mother’s Day stuff, but this was on my mind and thus I blog.

My entire life I have always been a little busy bee. I can hardly watch a TV show (except Lost) without having to thumb through a magazine! Seriously, I think I might have an attention disorder. That is why it is in my nature to have several things in my life to juggle.

Right now in my professional life am working on so many things and pulling in so many different directions that I just might explode but I do love it. I just recently launched my own Virtual Assisting company focused on Internet Marketing such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube and I am learning a lot along the way. I have learned from other more seasoned Virtual Assistants, Business Coaches and Spiritual Coaches. I have invested my time and money in growing my business. I have also launched this Blog site and I am working on branding myself as a Mommy Blogger. I really admire the Walmart Elevenmoms project and wish to somehow be a part of that team of women. For now, that ship has sailed and they are not accepting anyone else in their program so I will just continue on this path and grow my brand and hope that one day I can join them.

However, if I could just push all of the workstuff aside I just want to be Lily’s mom and spend everyday enjoying her world.  I wish I could be one of those moms who does nothing but be a mom and of course have a housekeeper!  Does that mom exist, I am not sure but I suppose that is what Mother’s day is for. I don’t expect a fancy present on Mother’s Day, just some time with Lily without other life distractions. I think that this year I will see if we can go to the Spa together, yes she is only 3 1/2 but maybe I can find a place where they do fun things for girls too.

I am an avid photographer as well and I have a zillion pictures of Lily and I often look back though some of them and just cry, I am not going to lie it was tough being a new mommy.  It is nothing like you think it is going to be, you basically give up your self and take the backseat on everything.  You are tired, you are hungry and all you want to do is run away and go shopping just to get a break.  I am lucky in that Louis has been the most wonderful husband and would let me escape for an hour to the local super Walmart just so I could go walk around in peace, yes peaceful at Walmart.

dscn1651This is a picture of me and Lily and she is about 6 months old.  When I look back at her photos the hard times are still memories but as time goes by those memories of sleepless nights, short naps and breast feeding issues fade away and all I have left are the photographs of the good times.  It is no secret that we have been trying to get pregnant again but we have not been successful, that includes the miscarriage this past December.  I have actually been on the ‘fence’ about having another baby but when I look at all the wonderful photographs of Lily over the past years my heart just soars and I want another baby. I know that Lily is going to be a great big sister too because she is great with her new baby cousin Wyatt.  She holds his hand and rubs his head when he is drifting off to sleep.  She keeps asking me and Louis when we are going to get another baby and she put in her request for a girl baby, we will see what we can do!

Wonderful Holiday Season

So again has passed another Holiday season and Louis and I are exhausted. We moved before Thanksgiving and also had to do all of our Holiday fun (shopping, decorating and FaLalalalaing) while we were unpacking and making trips to IKEA and Home Depot. Hopefully next year things wont be so crazy and we can just enjoy the Holiday season instead of being so tired from unpacking and putting together bookcases and other fun things for the house.

Christmas Eve was at our house with the Winston’s.
Louis brinned a Turkey and it was very good.
Lily took bows off of the presents and put them in her hair.

Nona & Grandpa Bill got her a wagon and a Tickle Me Elmo. She loves to ride in her Wagon with her Singing Mickey Mouse.

Christmas Day dinner was at the Cullo’s
Lily was so happy to run around and hang out with her Cousins Donovan and Julia.

The best present that we all received was from Michel and Stuart, they are going to have a baby at the end of July. We are all very excited for them.
