Can Men Even Do The Hula Hoop?

I have been challenging my husband to a Hula Hoop duel and the craziest thing happens, I win almost every time.  That is a photo of my highest score on Super Hula Hoop.  His excuse is that women have a different center of gravity and can swing our hips better.  Well, I think that he might be right, unless you are one of the guy dancers on Dancing With The Starts.  So gals, I’d like to know if your husbands can do the Hula Hoop or if they have trouble doing it too.

This week I really tried to stay on track with my workout.  I started to do the Island Lap which is a 10 minute run and I gave the boxing another try.  I am just not as coordinated as I used to be and I get tripped up during the boxing session.

I also got news this week that I have been chosen as one (of 500) to be host to a house party for the EA Sports Active. I am so jazzed to have made the cut because this is a product that will help me and my husband to stay on track with our workouts.  I am also excited to have over all the gals I’ve been talking to on Facebook about this product.  They really want to see it in action too.   The email that I received said that I would bet a few other goodies in addition to the game.  I have my fingers crossed that one of those goodies is an awesome EA Sports outfit, at least a t-shirt would be cool.  I love the black track suit that the 12 challengers are all dressed up in weekend in Santa Barbara. If I had one of those I would wear it all over the place, like maybe even the grocery store….ohhh…I know I am a dare devil.

I hope you all are having a great Fitness Friday and enjoy time with your families this weekend.  I am off to do some running on the Wii and maybe even watch a recorded episode of Ugly Better AFTER I work out.  =)

My Inner Cheerleader is Lazy

new-fitness-friday-button-copy

I am in my mid 30′s and I still haven’t lost all of the pregnancy weight from four years ago.  Seriously, it is time get rid of it. My doctor would like for me to shed at least 50 pounds and I have tried out so many different programs.  I’ve spent my money on Weight Watchers, online diet programs, Jenny Craig,  and I even started and stopped the same gym 3 times.  When I start a new program my inner cheerleader gets so excited and I get pumped up to stick with the program.  I can even get my family and friends excited to try these new things with me.  However, within a month my inner cheerleader gets tired and ends up eating gold fish crackers on the couch while nursing a diet coke and watching Ugly Betty.

But I have found a new product that I know will finally get that inner cheerleader

inside of me doing back flips and keeping me motivated for months to come.  The product…drum roll please…is EA Sports Active.  WHAT? I know what you are thinking, Julie is one of the challengers and she does a great job talking about this product.  But I am pretty sure that I am in their target market as I am an overweight chatty mom with lots of friends.  I thought that  I would take a moment to offer my view on the product as it is about to be released and why I want this game so darn bad.

This product is the kick in the butt that I need to keep my inner cheerleader jazzed up.  I have watched the videos on the EA Sports site about the features of the product as well as reading the Challenger Diaries.  What I find most exciting is how this product is changing the challengers bodies and spirits in just a few weeks, some even have noticed changes in just days after they started the program.  I know that if I can quickly get similar results  then I am sure to keep my inner cheerleader off the couch and pushing me on to get fit.

You might be asking yourself what my fitness goals are?  My goal is simple, it is not a number or percentage it is to be able to have the energy to actively play with my 3 1/2 year old daughter.  I honestly don’t care how I will look in a bathing suit this summer, how many dress sizes I will go down or how much weight I will have lost.  I know that those things will happen and they are great.  To have energy to chase my daughter around the park and pick her up and carry her without getting tired is the best outcome for me.

So in preparation for the launch of the EA Sports Active I am not going to allow any excuses for not working out on my Wii Fit.  I seem to have been coming up with all sorts of silly excuses lately.  This week I came up with a good one, my best one so far.  The excuse was that I didn’t want to workout because I was afraid it would cut into my office hours.  OK, seriously, I work from home and my Wii Fit is in the next room. That is silly!

What crazy excuse have you come up with for not working out?   Are you going to be purchasing the EA Sports Active in a few weeks too?
