EA Sports Active House Party

I was lucky to be chosen by EA Sports to be part of a group to host a House Party and demo their new game EA Sports Active.  I invited friends and family members to come over and watch Lou demo a few of the exercises.  I was so thrilled to see that they all wanted to try it out as well.  My sister-in-laws competed against each other in dancing and boxing, they had a good time trying to beat each others score.

Here is a video of them playing EA Sports Active.

Here is a slideshow of my photos from the party.

Today Lily told me, ” I hear a knock knock on the door ” and she was right because our Mailman was at my door dropping of a much anticipated item. I was so happy to see him as I have been waiting weeks for my copy of EA Sports Active since I found out that I would be one of the June 1st 30 Day Challengers.  In the box I received a few goodies.  I got a headband (this is a clue that there will be a lot of sweating) and a water bottle as well as two copies of the game.  One of the games I will give away during my EA Sports Active House Party in a few weeks.

I was so busy with work and Lily that I wasn’t able to give it a try until Lily was asleep.  Louis and I busted open the game and found that it is very easy to get started.  There is some great background music in the game too that will want to make you get up and dance!

I recorded two videos showing us getting started on a customized workout.

The sound in this video is somewhat low (ok it sucks) but it is an example of us doing the Basic Dance, Basketball Pass & Shoot, and Baseball. I will record more videos once we get started on the 30 Da Video. There are hundreds of different workouts that you can create which means you will never complain about a boring workout again.

I am super jazzed to be able to do this game, it is going to make a change in my workout habits and the 30 Day Challenge will keep us on our toes.

EA Sports Active House Party

I will be hosting a Demo of the EA Sports Active game for the Wii in a few weeks at my house.  I just got the game yesterday and will be starting the 30 Day Challenge on June 1st.  I have been given another copy of the game which also comes with the leg strap and resistance band.  I will keep you posted on how the party goes and who wins a copy of the game.

It’s Time To Punch Out!!

fitness-friday-button-new

My hubby has mad skills when it comes to the Wii Fit boxing, I on the other hand just suck at it.  I think that I am just not coordinated enough even though it has been proven that our 3 year old gets her mad dancing skills from me.

This past Sunday we were flipping through the ads in the paper when I came across a new Wii game.  This game is  perfect for those guys in your life who want to use the Wii to get fit but don’t want to do the traditional ‘work out routine’.  Of course, this will be in addition to EA Sports Active in my house. This game is called Punch Out!! This was one of my hubby’s favorite games back in the day and now he is really jazzed to add it to our work out collection.

The Wii site is full of great information about the game such as videos, the game history, and how to use the controls.  You can even use the Wii Balance Board with it.  My poor Wii Balance Board isn’t going to get a days rest when we get this game in the house.

punchout1I have also seen some boxing gloves for use with the Wii but I don’t believe that they will work with this game.  In Punch Out!! you actually will need to use some of the buttons on the controller and when you use the boxing gloves you can’t push the buttons.  The gloves look super cool but I think those are just for the other Wii games that use boxing such as Wii Fit & Wii Sports.  The best price that I have seen so far has been at Walmart, it was$39.00.

So pick up your copy of Punch Out!! for your hubby for father’s day, it will be a great suprise when he was expecting just a tie or ANOTHER guitar hero game.

Can Men Even Do The Hula Hoop?

new-fitness-friday-button-copy

hula1

I have been challenging my husband to a Hula Hoop duel and the craziest thing happens, I win almost every time.  That is a photo of my highest score on Super Hula Hoop.  His excuse is that women have a different center of gravity and can swing our hips better.  Well, I think that he might be right, unless you are one of the guy dancers on Dancing With The Starts.  So gals, I’d like to know if your husbands can do the Hula Hoop or if they have trouble doing it too.

This week I really tried to stay on track with my workout.  I started to do the Island Lap which is a 10 minute run and I gave the boxing another try.  I am just not as coordinated as I used to be and I get tripped up during the boxing session.

I also got news this week that I have been chosen as one (of 500) to be host to a house party for the EA Sports Active. I am so jazzed to have made the cut because this is a product that will help me and my husband to stay on track with our workouts.  I am also excited to have over all the gals I’ve been talking to on Facebook about this product.  They really want to see it in action too.   The email that I received said that I would bet a few other goodies in addition to the game.  I have my fingers crossed that one of those goodies is an awesome EA Sports outfit, at least a t-shirt would be cool.  I love the black track suit that the 12 challengers are all dressed up in weekend in Santa Barbara. If I had one of those I would wear it all over the place, like maybe even the grocery store….ohhh…I know I am a dare devil.

I hope you all are having a great Fitness Friday and enjoy time with your families this weekend.  I am off to do some running on the Wii and maybe even watch a recorded episode of Ugly Better AFTER I work out.  =)

New EA Sports Active Commerical

While watching Alison Sweeney on The Ellen Show yesterday we were all treated to the new EA Sports Active commercial.

The Wii Mommies

Have you checked out The Wii Mommies yet?  They have put together a stellar website that includes a forum area where you can get support from other moms using the Wii to get fit.  I just joined their Forums last week and really like all the support from the group.  Julie, one of The Wii Mommies actually lost 60 pounds using her Wii.  You can check out their  Forums at http://www.wiimommies/forums and more about The Wii Mommies on their about page http://www.wiimommies.com/wii-mommies/

The Wii Mommies have a special feature on their site on Fridays called Fitness Fridays.  During Friday they allow someone to publish a guest blog on their site, normally it is just The Wii Mommies doing all the blogging.  I requested a guest blog spot and my blog post will appear on May 8th. Yeah!  You will have to go check out their site on Friday to see my blog post.

Another reason to check out The Wii Mommies is because Julie is one of the 12 Challengers doing the EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge. Here is a video clip of Julie talking about how virtual fitness has helped her stay active.  If you want to see more EA Sports Active videos go to http://www.easportsactive.com/media.action

EA Sports Active Challenger Diaries

Wow, those challengers are really getting a workout with EA Sports Active.  They have all been updating their diaries with videos and Blog posts.  I am super jazzed to start using the product when it comes out on May 19th.

Check out their diary entries here

EA Sports Blog is a great resource too !

Here is a great video with Alison Sweeney talking about her goals in using the program.

EA Sports Active – Workout Buddy

Here is a new video for EA Sports Active which features the Workout Buddy. I can’t wait to do this mode with Louis, I am gonna kick his booty!

You can keep up with the current 30 Day Challengers by going to EA Sports site and reading their diaries. – http://www.easportsactive.com/diaries.action

EA Sports Active 30 Day Challenge

I just watched the EA Sports 30 Day Challenge video and I am so pumped to try this workout system!  We are currently using Wii Fit and while it is fun I have a problem with it.  The issue being that I feel like I can’t get in a good workout because I am jumping around from menu to menu to put together a workout.  You have to select each activity that you want to do.  So when I select a Yoga pose I select it, do the activity but then when I am done I have to Quit that exercise, go to the Strength menu and select a strength exercise.  I just feel like I stop and start and stop and start again.  It takes me an hour to complete a 30 minute workout because of all the menu hopping.

That is why I am so excited to get my hands on the EA Sports Active product.  It is a workout system that has actually been planned out with the user in mind.  A really nifty feature is the 30 Day Challenge workout, now that is something that will keep me on track.
Check out this video for a sneak peak at some of the cool features.

And check out this video here about the online 30 Day Challengers. There are a few of the gals from Walmart’s 11 Moms such as Monica from Mommy Brain Reports and Renee Ross from Cutie Booty Cakes some Twitter folks that I have been following. These lucky folks get to try the system and record their progress on the EA Sports active website so we can all see their results.

Get Up Off Your Tush and Get Active!

We were in GameStop the other night trading in our old PS2 and Game Cube games to purchase Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Grooves and Disney Sing It for Lily.  Yes, that is right there is a Dance Dance Revolution game in my house and I know you want to use it too.

eas-retail-boxWhile we were in there I saw a video of Bob Greene (the oprah fitness guy) and he was promoting a new game for the Wii called EA Sports Active and it looks awesome.  We are currently using the Wii Fit and having a good time with all the cute games and stuff but I want more of a workout and this game looks like it will make me hurt a bit…so that is good right?

I was thinking about actually hiring a personal training to get my tush back into shape but this game is like having a personal trainer because they have a trainer working with you on screen while you are doing the exercises to give you feedback and motovation.  The game (or home gym) is going to be released on May 19th.  They have a pretty cool site with lots of info about the product, check it out !

Here are a few videos, there are even more on their site.
